ARCH 105 (STUDIO 3A)

The micro-apartment is a trend in studio-style housing containing all of the necessary elements of living within an urban setting using minimal means for maximum effect. A 58-story luxury micro-unit residential tower stands on the banks of the Schuylkill River on the corner of 25th and Locust Streets containing 180 micro-apartment units, 11 stories of office and retail space, 5 stories of amenities for the residents, and a terraced park space connecting the building to the Schuylkill Riverwalk.

The central concept informing the design decisions is the creation of “micro-neighborhoods” in a high rise building. The floors are split into sub-communities containing 5 residential floors and 1 parking floor connected by an atrium stairway. A car elevator allows for parking in the sky.
